Lionel Messi continues to break records and astound the football world with his incredible skill and almost unbelievable goal-scoring feats. Last week during a 5-3 home win for Barcelona, the little Argentinian scored a hat-trick and became Barcelonas greatest goal-scorer of all time. He now has 234 goals for the Spanish giants, with a breath-taking 54 this season alone.

It has been clear for a few years that Messi would one day better Cesar Rodriguezs 60-year-old goal-scoring record, but the speed with which he has racked up his total is simply phenomenal. The reigning world player of the year has already achieved so much that its sometimes hard to believe hes still only 24. The prospect of how many more goals he might score, and how much better he might become is tantalizing.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola struggled to find the words to describe Messis talent. He eventually likened him to another sporting great, saying: There are no players capable of dominating a sport with such superiority. In every sport there has existed only one player that can be considered as somebody unique. And this is the case. Yes, Messi can be compared to Michael Jordan.
