製造業的前景是兩年半以來的最低點。

The manufacturers outlook is at its lowest level for two and a half years.

Manufacturing sentiment in South Korea fell in a recent survey. The Asian nation is one of the worlds most important manufacturing countries, and this report is a further sign that the global economy is in trouble. The Bank of Koreas manufacturers outlook stands at 79 points for January, down 4 points from Decembers figure of 83.

Januarys rating is the lowest recorded by the Bank of Korea for two and a half years. Back in July, 2009, the rating fell to 78. However, at that time, the world was in the grips of a credit crisis and the worst global recession since the great depression of the 1930s. Economists have been talking about the possibility of a double-dip recession for some time, and reports like this only add credence to those views.

South Korean manufacturers said they are being hit with a group of worrying factors. The price of raw materials continues to rise, local demand is not good, and they say that economic factors are uncertain. Sovereign debt problems in Europe and, to a lesser extent, the US, are leaving everyone feeling cautious, and manufacturers are now certainly feeling the impact.
